Heartland College Assistance Migrant Program: Empowerment through postsecondary education

Meet Jose

The Harvest of Hope Leadership Academy (HHLA) is a FREE academic enrichment program that serves high school students eligible for migrant-education services.

Each June since 2008, HHLA has provided a three-week Summer Academy in which students come to the University of Kansas campus to live, learn, and work together to:

  • explore and develop leadership skills,
  • assume leadership roles in their communities, and
  • gain knowledge and skills to graduate from high school and pursue a college education.

During the academic year, HHLA continues to support migrant students’ educational success through regional workshops, newsletters, advising, and special programs.
